SneakersBR is Brazil’s first and best magazine dedicated to sneaker culture. Ricardo Nunes and his team have built up a strong following throughout Latin America, collaborating with brands and reporting on product releases across the globe.
The start of my working relationship and friendship began when SneakersBR asked my former agency U-DOX to help compile a feature on the history of world-renowned sneaker website Crooked Tongues. As one of the co-founders of the website, U-DOX approached me to conduct interviews with the original members, collate photographs, memorabilia and artwork – and then edit the final text into a feature ready for print. The resulting piece became the magazine’s cover feature, comprising of almost 25,000 words and a folder of imagery dating back to the site’s inception in 2000.
I also researched, collated imagery and wrote an article in a subsequent issue dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Nike Cortez: one of the most iconic shoes in footwear history.
