The Drop Date: a way to navigate the chaos of online shoe releases.
Ry Barr approached me with an idea he had for a trainer/sneaker website. Together, we worked on getting a first draft of the Drop Date website online, splitting duties throughout. Whilst Ry utilised his much-respected background in retail to build direct relationships with the shops and brands, I worked on the website design and development, creating much of the editorial content and making sure things ran as smoothly as possible under the hood. Ry built up an extremely strong following for us across social media, with over 40k followers on Instagram in under 18 months and, at the time of writing (March 2014) the website has had over 2 million unique visits since August 2012.
In July 2013, we were picked by FHM Collections as one of the top 5 style websites in the UK and we’ve been featured across the globe in number of publications and websites.
The site is now a legitimate full-time business with a team of writers and we’re currently developing the site and business model for expansion throughout 2014 and 2015.
